Description
This session explores the addictive quality of our favourite and most accessible drug, sugar.
Kate explains the potentially addictive mechanism behind sugar’s sweet allure – and also looks at how ultra-processed food, ties into the same mechanisms, to keep us hooked.
Kate also examines the cost of sugar not only in terms of our own health, but also the cost to the environment, soil, and in history, in terms of the social cost of slavery and indentured labour.
If we knew the true price of sugar, would we break our love affair with this drug of choice? Kate shows us how to break up with sugar, and find ways to rip the the strong bonds of addiction, to live a more balanced and healthful life.
This session is 60 (45 minute talk + Q & A). It can also be 30 mins + Q & A
