Description
We are deeply honoured to present Yvette, the CEO of SOS, Silence of Suicide - A Mental Health & Suicide Awareness Charity in conversation with barristers Michael Mansfield QC and Lorna Hackett, co-hosts of The Two Heads Podcast. It's World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) on September 10th. This day was established in 2003 by The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) in conjunction with The World Health Organisation (WHO), with the hope of driving awareness, education, hope and reducing stigma around suicide. Creating Hope Through Action is the theme for World Suicide Prevention Day from 2021 - 2023. An estimated 703,000 people a year take their life around the world. For every suicide, there are likely 20 other people making a suicide attempt and many more have serious thoughts of suicide. Millions of people suffer intense grief or are otherwise profoundly impacted by suicidal behaviours - The World Health Organisation. This is a 45 minute talk (+Q & A) bespoke to your organisation (subject to the hosts and your availability), the proceeds of which will go to their charity, SOS.SOS Silence of Suicide
Practitioner
SOS was founded by Michael Mansfield QC and his wife Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, following personal experiences of loss by suicide. 'Our aims are simple – from the start, we realised the importance of communication, compassion and kindness to reduce shame, stigma and silence around mental health and suicide. We are qualified by experience, not by certification. Through bereavement and personal mental ill health challenges, we believe we have the insight necessary to best support others. Only when you have trodden a certain path, can you understand the struggles of those coming behind you. SOS is about building individual and collective resilience, empowering everyone to believe in their own self worth’ Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, CEO, SOS
